Christmas carols. We learned them when we were little and still remember how most of them go. Holiday music is an old friend, returning at this time every year to deliver the first kiss of Christmas spirit to our hearts. Young and old join together to recall the wonderful songs of the season and this year Mrs. Santa is coming to Pegram, ready to lead the singing.

Every Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas, from 9 am to noon, Mrs. Santa (played by award-winning folksinger Susie Coleman) will be hosting Mrs. Santa’s Sing-Along — a morning of fun for kids of all ages — at the Musical Heritage Center of Middle Tennessee located at 456 Highway 70 across from Pegram Station. Christmas carols, kid songs, dancing, games, and crafts are on the agenda. Laughter and joy are the only objectives.

Mrs. Santa’s Sing-Along is a “Mom’s Morning Out” event. Parents can drop off well-behaved children and go Christmas shopping, or are welcome to stay and join in. Craft projects are targeted at ages 6-12, but older and younger kids will not be bored. Craft supplies, a juice box and snack are included in the $15 per child charge (there’s no charge for parents who choose to stay). Reservations are suggested but not required, and can be made by calling Susie Coleman at 662-5577 or visiting mrssantassingalong.susiecoleman.com/how-to-register.

Susie Coleman is a music teacher and traditional folksinger. She lives in Pegram and works at the Musical Heritage Center, giving lessons on how to play guitar by ear. Since her first competition in 1996, she’s won 12 first place awards in regional old time singing contests, eight from the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree. Susie also leads FOLKSLINGERS, a group of women who gather twice a month in search of music suitable for the rhythm guitar and a female voice.
